Quantity Surveyor – Environment

Location: Bristol

An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try.

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be an important part of the Framework Commercial team and will work closely with the Pre-Construction, Design and Delivery functions within the wider team, to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes on the AMP 8 Wessex Water Framework.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Producing Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme
  • Managing subcontract works packages including interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management
  • Producing and issuing all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract
  • Managing change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations
  • Liaising with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required
  • Participating in weekly progress and risk reduction meetings
  • Producing, submitting, and agreeing monthly applications to the Client
  • Presenting detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and 'Cost Plans', tracking and forecasting expenditure and liabilities
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and promoting Health, Safety and Environment culture
  • Encouraging a safe and collaborative working environment

About You

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment
  • Experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes with solid knowledge of construction processes
  • A professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member or working towards full membership is desirable
  • Astute appreciation of standard forms of contract
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle)
