About the Role
This is a role within the Castrol organisation and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. If you are part of the ring-fence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of learning and capability across a global organisation. This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a capability development function from the ground up, creating a modern, skills-based approach that enables the business to thrive in a changing environment.
Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with Talent, People & Culture, and business leaders to shape capability priorities, translating business strategy into clear, actionable skills plans aligned to workforce and organisational goals.
- Define and deliver targeted capability plans, informed by data, business needs, and performance outcomes.
- Develop and present compelling business cases for learning solutions, demonstrating measurable impact and value.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across stakeholders, enabling effective delivery and removing barriers to success.
- Manage and continuously improve the learning portfolio to ensure relevance, efficiency, and impact.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
- Drive the implementation of learning technologies, including LMS solutions.
- Oversee the design and delivery of learning programmes for employees and external partners.
What We're Looking For
Essential skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human resources, learning & development, organizational development, business administration, education or related field
- Experience shaping and delivering learning or capability strategies in complex, global organisations
- Strong critical thinking and commercial awareness
- Proven ability to translate business needs into actionable capability plans
- Strong project management and execution capability
- Experience working closely with senior partners and influencing at leadership level
- Hands-on experience delivering learning solutions (not purely advisory/consulting)
- Strong understanding of skills frameworks, workforce planning or capability development
- Confident using data and insights to inform decisions and measure impact
Desirable:
- Experience in FMCG or similarly fast-paced environments
- Exposure to learning technologies and LMS implementation
- Experience working with external vendors and partners
- Strong collaboration, adaptability and ability to work in evolving environments
Work Arrangements
- Travel: Up to 10% travel should be expected with this role
- Remote Type: This position is a hybrid of office/remote working
